Bill Peet was an American Illustrator, Story Artist and Animator. Since childhood Bill Peet showed a keen interest in drawing animals. He received a formal education in art at John Herron Art Institute. He joined Walt Disney Studios as an in-between artist in 1937 to work on the Donald Duck shorts.


Peet,  however was more interested in doing story and character sketches and thus began a long career as a storyman where he contributed greatly to stories of Disney classics like Dumbo, The Three Caballeros, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Song of the South, and The Jungle Book. he was also instrumental in character design and storyboarding. His storyboards of Dumbo are an great example of capturing emotions.

After leaving Disney in 1964, Peet started a second career as an author and illustrator, creating more than 30 books for children. He continued to create memorable characters using his vivid imagination. Do visit billpeet.net to check out more about life and work.

Thomas Starling Sullivant (1854 –1926) was an American Cartoonist who has been a major influence on cartoonists over the years. Sullivant studied at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and his early influence was the work of illustrator A.B. Frost. Frost was impressed by Sullivant’s work and recommended him to Puck magazine. At the age of 32, Sullivant’s first published cartoons appeared in Truth magazine. He was later signed up by Life magazine, where his work got recognition.


Sullivant had an excellent understanding of anatomy and drew expressive animals with personality. He was one of first cartoonists to draw anthropomorphic animals. He mainly used pen and ink and used the technique of cross hatching to give his drawing a solid feeling and effectively depict lighting in a scene.. His work has been a major influence on Disney artists over the years, mainly Joe Grant, Andreas Deja and Nancy Beiman.
